Its a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world...

Except for Lola.

Several weeks ago now, my family and I received a
very unexpected visitor: in the form of a stray Patterdale terrier.

We have no idea where she came from, or who she belonged to, but its safe to say she's here to stay with us, forever.

The day she wandered into our garden (looking healthy enough and well fed, but collarless) I was certain she'd have owners somewhere - a dog so undeniably cute must be loved by someone,
right?

So, we did the right thing ( at least we thought it was the right thing at the time anyway) and rang the dog warden to report a stray dog.

A week in the local dog shelter ensued - and she remained unclaimed.

I had my eyes opened the first time we visited her at the dog shelter - countless breeds of dog cooped up in cages all desperately vying for your attention. It broke my heart, and I left in tears.

It felt cruel walking away from so many lovely looking dogs - and leaving quiet little Lola amongst the ruckus felt heinous.

More needs to be done to encourage anyone thinking about buying a puppy to rescue a dog who NEEDS a home. Yes puppies are sweet, but they grow up so quickly... and Lola is proof that a rescue dog can be just as adorable!!

The day we collected her from the shelter she seemed to have changed slightly.

In a week, she'd transformed from a sprightly wee thing into a more timid, nervous dog. And I felt a huge sense of guilt for having left her there, helpless and alone.

Rescuing Lola is probably the best thing we've done as a family: walking her not only keeps us fit but it keeps her happy! And she rewards us with her obedience, affection and loyalty.

Its amazing how quickly she settled in especially with an adopted rabbit and cat to contend with. Sure, she chews the occasional shoe and has the odd 'accident' from time to time when we aren't paying enough attention... But Lola is now officially a part of our pack, and we wouldn't part with her for the world.

-Paisley love-

I attempted to take a few snaps of one of my new fave dresses, from Topshop. It has such floaty sleeves, and I love the colour. I decided to pair it with a really bold paisley patterned pair of tights I've had for a few seasons now from H&M.

Anyway, it's pretty hard to get a decent full length shot of onesself - so apologies for that!

I can do that...

Admittedly, I've neglected my blogging to focus on earning some pennies lately! But promise to keep updating as much as possible! I've put this video up here because, The 'heads rock my socks, and I think they'll rock yours too. Well worth a listen :)

I've
finally managed to take a (small) step onto a career in fashion - retail.

I was really chuffed to be given a lot of freedom with setting up displays of shoes we had on sale...in terms of style, colour, size etc... Really gave me a chance to show my creative side as well as my knowledge on shoes!! I do think Carrie Bradshaw would have been proud :)

I'm proud of myself at the mo for putting my mind to new exciting challenges, and it goes to show that if you really put your mind to something you can do it... hence the appropriateness of the song :D

Just like honey.

"Listen to the girl, as she takes on half the world. Moving up and so alive, in her honey dripping beehive..."
I wasn't at all surprised to see that the beehive is set to be the hottest hair do this Autumn.

So long as one stays away from the grotty Winehouse-esque mess or the tacky barnet of Bet Lynch, the beehive can look super sophisticated and glam (as pictured here on the runway at the Prada fall/winter show).

To achieve an impressive beehive, extensions may come in handy - as natural hair is probably gonna look a little lacklustre. But don't go overboard like these two lovely ladies :)

Voluminous hair has been a staple look on and off the catwalk for a few seasons now, and with the introduction of a nifty wee gadget - the (poorly named) 'bumpit' - it's simple to create BIG hair at home.

It's probably fair to say that big hair hasn't ever really gone out of fashion. Thinking along the lines of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's which was almost FIFTY years ago... Ms Hepburn's do is effortlessly chic and will never date.

So, big hair is here to stay, perhaps for another fifty years? Who knows?!

Now, pass me my hairspray and a comb... I've got some serious back combing to do!
